About Huskie Rentals

In 1975 I started in the fridge rental business as a flunky, while attending Northern Illinois University pursuing an art education. What struck me was the college fridge rental business; the profound effect was how easy it seemed. Thus, I dropped out of school with a semester to go, going into that very business. After all this time, I'm still going strong and serving 20 universities.

The most luck filled event for me was meeting my partner and mentor, Jim Hutchinson. He educated me in fine tuning my business practices and helped me expand the business over the last ten years.

When dealing with tens of thousands of students and their parents, one very important lesson stands out over everything else. Always make the customer happy. Treat them the way that you would want to be treated at all times - with respect, kindness, and most certainly to expand expectations. If it takes rebates, full refunds or complimentary offers for the next season happy customers will talk. Happy customers are the best advertising and the ultimate way to keep your business growing.

Most importantly however is to STAY IN SCHOOL! I became very lucky and owning a business is a long term journey where failure is always a possibility and sometimes beyond your control. And we need all the customers that we can get, so stay in your school.
